In an emotional moment during the CSK vs DC match, MS Dhoni’s parents were spotted in the stadium for the very first time. Dhoni touched their feet before walking onto the field, adding fuel to the retirement rumors that have been swirling around him. His wife, Sakshi, and daughter, Ziva, were also seen cheering from the stands. As speculation mounted that this might be Dhoni’s final appearance for Chennai Super Kings, CSK’s head coach Stephen Fleming stepped in to provide clarity.
Fleming, speaking after CSK’s 25-run defeat against Delhi Capitals, said:
“It’s not my job to end MS Dhoni’s journey. I don’t know anything about that. I’m just enjoying working with him. He’s still going strong. These days, I don’t even ask him. You guys ask.”
The presence of Dhoni’s parents — Pan Singh and Devaki Devi — at Chepauk Stadium, along with Sakshi’s viral clip where she’s heard telling their daughter “last match,” sparked widespread buzz across social media. However, there has been no official confirmation about what that comment actually meant.
MS Dhoni, who was previously criticized for batting at No. 9, came in at No. 7 this time. While he remained unbeaten with 30 runs off 26 balls, he struggled to find his rhythm and couldn’t prevent CSK from suffering their third consecutive defeat.
Delhi Capitals defeated Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk for the first time in 15 years. Batting first, DC scored 183/6 in their 20 overs. In response, CSK managed only 158/5. With this win, Delhi secured their third consecutive victory in IPL 2025 and climbed to the top of the points table. Meanwhile, CSK slipped to the 9th position, having lost three out of their four matches so far.
